Aura
A local-first academic AI assistant for students. Your research help, writing partner, and study coach — running entirely on your own PC.
What Aura does
Grounded research help
Ask questions and get answers that cite where they came from — with a built-in critic pass that checks Aura's own work before you see it.
Reading & summarizing
Feed Aura long documents and get faithful summaries, key points, and study questions drawn straight from the text.
Writing scaffolding
Outlines, structure, feedback, and revision help for essays and reports — support for your writing, not a replacement for it.
Fact-checking
Claims are checked against multiple independent sources, not a single lookup.
Paper discovery
Search across arXiv, Semantic Scholar, and Crossref, with quick condensed gists of what each paper argues.
Code review
Static analysis and safe, isolated checking for Python, plus C, C++, Java, and JavaScript using the compilers already on your machine.
Voice in and out
Talk to Aura and have it read back to you — speech recognition and synthesis both run fully offline.
Documents & images
Read and write Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF files, and generate images locally.
Private by design
Aura is built on LittleBitOfPeril AI's local-first principles:
- The AI language model, speech-to-text, and text-to-speech never touch the network.
- No account, no sign-in, no telemetry. Nothing about your usage is collected or transmitted.
- Your conversation history, memory, and generated documents stay in ordinary files on your own PC.
- The only things that leave your device are web searches, page fetches, and research lookups you explicitly ask for — and Aura screens what comes back before it reaches the model.

Academic integrity. Aura is a study aid. It is built to help you learn, research, and revise your own work — not to write it for you. See the Terms of Use for details.
